Project 12 :: August

Hi!  It's been an amazing couple of months & I can't wait to show y'all.

August is one of my favorite months, but then again maybe I'm a little partial since it is my birth month.  My spread this month documents a lot of special events.

  • My dad also celebrates his birthday at the beginning of the month.
  • I've been working to loose weight and after 2 months I had lost 20 pounds and have so far kept it off.
  • I celebrated 3 years at the store.
  • I tried all summer to get various tickets to a couple of different concerts and the one I finally got tickets to Florida Georgia Line - which is tomorrow!
  • I completed my first and maybe only 5K, but it was never about proving I'm a runner, but proving to myself that I could do it.  I think it's a bigger accomplishment that it was almost a hundred degree day the day that we ran.
 Thanks for stopping by!

What A Ride!

All I can say is WOW!  These past couple of months have been some of the craziest that I have ever experienced in my life - don't get me wrong they've been the best months of my life but it did lead to   no any postings in months.  So, for those of you who are reading my blog - thanks :)  and hopefully there will be more postings over the next week.

First Up:
Run or Dye - Layout

Ever since the Color Run started, I've wanted to run/walk one of these - mainly for the experience and to say that I have done one.  I'm not a huge fan of running but I can walk pretty quickly, well if it's not 96 degrees outside at the end of August.

There is just something perfect about these Hero Arts stamps that worked perfectly with this specific page.  I think these might be my most favorite pages I have ever done.

So I created my own background with the stamps in a variety of different ink colors to play along with the different colors of dye that they used.

When I was trying to decide what to use as the title, I didn't have too many creative ideas so I just used the name of the race and their same font - cut on my Silhouette Cameo, Niles.  I also added a few details about the day just so I wouldn't forget that I had actually completed something that was on my bucket list!

I'll be posting all of my project 12 pages within the next week!  Thanks for stopping by!

Project 12 :: June

June in my life was a pretty crazy month.  From my mom starting physical therapy on her ankle to house/dog sitting at the end of the month - there was a lot going on.  Surprisingly, I was able to finish my June pages a lot quicker than I thought I was.

My layout this month features "The Perfect Summer" line from Echo Park.  Now if you know Amy, she knew I was using this line and proceeded to ask me if she could use it too.  Which of course I said yes but I thought it was kind of her to ask if she could use this paper too.

I love the 4x6 - 3 months of summer rectangle - it was the whole reason I decided to use this line.

Going to baseball games is one of my favorite things to do in the summer - so far I've been to 2 and am hoping to at least go to one more before the season is over.

That's all for now - there are lots of other projects to get done.
Thanks for stopping by!

I Work Out

Just about an hour ago,  I was traveling through the blogs that I frequent and found a new challenge site, 2 Broke Girls Challenges.  I love the show 2 Broke Girls, so I figured I'd look around their site and was inspired by their sketch of the week.

Here is my take on their sketch:

 The wood grain paper had been taunting me since I bought it.  I had no real use for it except for looking at it (which is never a bad thing). But just looking at my pretty paper is not part of my scrapping philosophy for this year, so now that I've worked with it - I feel better about picking up this piece of paper.

The flags are scraps of October Afternoon papers that I had just laying around that perfectly complemented the teal paint on top of the wood grain.

Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!

Project 12 :: May

Well it's a new month and I some how managed to finish my May pages before the Project 12 pin by date was published.  I don't know how it happened, maybe a mix of a well-timed crop night mixed with me actually being on top of editing and printing my photos.

Here are my 2 pages:

I am so proud of these pages.  They don't look like anything I've ever scrapped before and that makes me happy.  I love the colors in this layout - they're just so spring.

Here are some of my favorite 4x6's:

This one of my mom's surgery is one of my favorites because I love the gem detail on the hearts. They give them a little something extra with something that I typically don't use.

I have probably listened to this cd 75 times, at least and that might even be on the low side.  Which definitely makes it deserving of it's own 4x6.

This picture of me and my brother is the first one in a long line of photo-bombing by him (which is truly what he does best).  He decided that while I wanted to take pictures that he needed to eat some candy so I have 8 pictures of him enjoying his candy and this one good one.

This section talks about what I've been cooking since mom had her surgery.  I've become quite the cook and am kind of impressed myself.  Each night I like to challenge myself to see if my meals taste like what mom makes.

I also had a bit of an epiphany when I was doing this title.  I was trying to decide if I wanted to use the letters that I had cut from the cameo or the negative spaces from where the letters once were.  Once I decided I wanted the letters, I used the other part to help align and make sure my letters were straight.  Which is something that I had never thought of before and worked quite well!

Thanks for stopping by & happy June!

Project 12 :: April

Hello there!  I'm going to do a quick post here at first, but I'll be back soon to add more detail about my April layouts.

I know on the top left picture of the right page might not look like much, but the actual picture is of a rain storm and is pretty much just a solid picture of rain with the silhouette of the tree behind the rain.  It's actually a pretty awesome picture.

Project 12 :: March

  Hi there!  Things have been crazy hectic around here with work and the weird weather (well normal weather for Indiana). I've got a couple of other projects almost done and will be posting those as soon as they get completed.  Now onto this month's Project 12 layout.

 There was nothing this month out of the ordinary - thank goodness!  On this layout I used all Echo Park Paper - Sweet Day.  I really enjoyed the muted colors and thought they would pair well with the Easter holiday.

     For these pages, I stepped out of my comfort zone and did some hand stitching across some labels and stickers.  I figured if Daisy could sit on the couch opposite of me without freaking out (which is why this photo is proudly displayed here), I could do some stitching.

   The crazy Indiana weather is only shown in the beginning stages on the panel where it says No More Snow.  Once it was done snowing we had added another 8" to our snowfall total for the year.  Which is exactly what makes it crazy.

I love this side of my layout, probably because of the two movie references at the top.  I'm pretty much obsessed with the movie Pitch Perfect.  I can quote about half of the movie and I'm working on the rest.  I ordered my 3rd and final bridesmaids dress this month while it's not the same color as the one shown - it shows the general style.

 I love this way of adding extra photos and journaling without loosing any other spaces.  This talks about date nights with my brother.  Where we'll either go to a movie or something else random and just hang out with each other.

The last part of this spread is this card that I got from my best friend Chelsie.  I added the envelope and keep it tucked in with my other photos from this month.  When I first opened this card, I cracked up because I immediately knew that I was the one on the right and Chelsie is the one in the middle being the crazy one.

That's all for this month...Thanks for stopping by!

Project 12 :: February

     Sorry if any of you readers are trying to follow my blog posting,  I know I haven't done much the past month - things have been kind of hectic and I haven't been creating as much.

     This is my spread for Project 12 :: February.  I must say I'm in love with Project 12 and I think I'll be sticking with it for a while because it is super easy and quick.  There are many different reasons why I'm in love with these 2 pages.  The main two are because I'm using products that I've had for a very long time and because I feel like I'm changing and evolving my style.

      The left side of my layout documents the first half of the month.  Ranging from my mom's birthday, my dad's extended hospital stay, my new Cameo - his name is Niles, and my final parts of my Christmas present - my turquoise Fiestaware.   In the Cameo square I had created something totally different to place underneath the picture, but decided to keep the letters.  Now that I see that it's not centered at all I might add something there in the future.

The right side is probably my favorite I've done so far.  I got my iPhone and am in love with screen capturing things.   I saw the card that talks about Sheldon (from The Big Bang Theory) loving his spot and knew that I needed to make my own because we love that tv show.   I love the cut out pieces from the Amy Tangerine love paper - documenting my love for my little brother's cat, Kevin.  Unfortunately I wasn't the one to name her so she has a boys name, but I know that she'll be documented more because she's just so cute!

I'm including this picture because I recently went to a stamp show and bought an Elle's Studio stamp (This is True Happiness) and I just need to say if you ever get the opportunity to purchase a stamp from them - seize that opportunity.  They are heavy-duty stamps that stamped very well.

Thanks so much for stopping by for this update - I'll be posting more here soon as I've got new pages done and ready to be photographed.

Project 12 :: January

     Yesterday, I shared with you my Project 12 title page and today I'm sharing my layout for January.

      This month and through out my album, I used the Simple Stories Snap line for my months because there is something about the bright, bold colors they used in that line that I absolutely love.

      One of my favorite things on this page is the Lawn Fawn flamingo stamp which signifies my favorite show (Cougar Town) coming back from it's year-long hiatus.

This right hand page documents, the later part of the month which includes a house party, my December daily being completed, and a trip to Minute Clinic.  The slot that says Everyday Life talks about how my brother left all of his shirts at home when he returned to school - which might be one of the highlights of the month.

   These are my resolutions for 2013.  I started a tradition last year of making scrapbooking resolutions and making a page devoted to those things I either wanted to do or get done. Somethings on the list are finishing albums by certain dates, working on invitiations for one of my best friend's weddings and working on my high school albums.

   That's all I have for today ...  Thanks for stopping by!

Project 12 :: Title Page

     Coming into 2013, I knew that I didn't want to do a traditional scrapbook in the 12x12 sense - I like to change things up when I scrapbook every year.  I've always wanted to try Project Life, but I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up & do enough in one week to make it interesting.  My friend, Amy told me that she had heard about this new way of scrapbooking called Project 12, by Gossamer Blue.  Where instead of documenting each week of the year, you scrap each month in a 2 page layout.

      This is my cover page for Project 12.  I knew there were specific pictures and titles I wanted to use I just didn't know how I wanted it to all come together.  I love the Studio Calico wood veneers - I like to call them restroom people, because I honestly don't know what else to call them.  The title came to me while I was working and had this idea to use the woman as the "i" in girl.  It was a once in a blue moon idea and I decided to run with it.

     Along the bottom of my page, I designed a 4x6 with the quote from Ferris Bueller's Day Off where Ferris says, "Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop to look around once in a while, you might miss it."  I added it because it's my favorite movie and I wanted that specific quote incorporated into the cover some how.

     Thanks so much for coming & visiting my page.  I'll be updating January's Project 12 page tomorrow.

25 Days of Christmas

     Today, I have a project that I am so very proud to have done.  It's my 25 Days of Christmas mini-album.  In 2011, I had every intention of doing a December Daily album, but when December 1st rolled around I wasn't motivated anymore.  So I told myself 2012, was the year to get a December album done.  Now I can't say that I was all alone in my December endeavor, I have a great group of friends and we decided we'd take on December dailies together.

       Now that my project is done, I've had the opportunity to look back at my album and I can't be any happier.  I have all of my December memories displayed in one place and I also had the opportunity to use a good stack of things I've been hoarding for the past couple of years.

Welcome to My Paper Confessions

Hello there!  Thanks for stopping by my new blog.  I've been going back and forth about blogging for a while now and just figured why not give it a try.  I know at the moment there isn't a whole lot going on yet, but I've got a couple of projects almost done and I'm so excited to show them to you!  Thanks again for stopping by!
